Nature's Retreat in the winter

Come to this B&B for relaxation, peace and serenity, whether summer, autumn, winter or spring! This single four-bedroom house, Nature's Retreat, is set in the woods and hills in the northern Taconic Mountains, on 25 acres of hillside, with a mountain brook forming the boundary on three sides. It is criss-crossed by short trails which are clearly marked for relaxing easy strolls through the woods, and there is seating at view points.

There are two rooms to rent in the main house, one small and the other larger. There is a large shared kitchen, bathroom and a spacious deck with picnic table and beautiful views. On Airbnb the larger room is entitled  “Relaxation and serenity with lovely mountain view” and the small room is “Room in rural home with lovely mountain view”. Both are found by entering Castleton in the “where to” section.

There is also a small cabin (“Cabin-by-the-Falls” on airbnb) which is bookable for a rustic and secluded "back-to-nature experience". Immediately adjacent to the cabin, there is a composting toilet accessible from the deck, and  potable water is from an adjacent standpipe. There is a three-burner propane stove in a separate three-sided structure immediately next to the cabin.  Max two persons. The cabin has its own deck overlooking the stream. Cabin is usually closed in winter because of snow.

Nature's Retreat is about a four hours' drive from New York, three hours from Boston and Montreal. There is also a train from NYC to the village of Castleton. The host will be more than happy to pick you up from the train station (as long as he is available). Although the house and cabin are quiet and peacefully situated, it is near several beautiful Vermont villages and many places of interest.
